How I Went From Sales Newbie to Selling Over $100k in 2 Months
Only a mere six months ago, I was a sales newbie. I could communicate with people but lacked the skills to guide people to purchasing a product (aka selling).
In October 2020, I joined Mike Barron's Closer Academy. As I joined, I had my hesitations. I spent thousands of dollars, more than I have ever spent on myself, to receive coaching from a man who I didn't know and someone who I met over the internet. I worried if the program would be a scam, if I could genuinely get results or if this program would end up like all the other programs that I had paid for in the past (No Success).
Six months later, and as I look back on it all, my journey could only be described as extraordinary.
I joined the program and eight days later had already finished all of the training material, attended an interview to work at my mentor's company, and got the job as an appointment setter at his company. This appointment setter position allowed me to get my feet wet and put the information that I had learned through tens of hours of videos into practice. Here I was also able to get coaching from other people within the company and learn valuable information. After 1.5 months of working at my mentor's company and setting up multiple people that closed into deals, I decided to get more 1-1 coaching with my mentor. Once again, spending more money than I had ever imagined on myself. As I considered working 1-1 with my mentor, Mike, more 1-1, I once again had my hesitations as the thought of spending tens of thousands of dollars in coaching seemed crazy to me. Regardless I decided to move forward and start working 1-1 with Mike. ONE OF THE BEST DECISION I EVER MADE.
Around this time, I moved from working as an appointment setter at his company, Limelight Media, to instead start closing deals at Automated eCommerce. After a short training period, the next two months, I closed over $100k while still training for an ironman, moving from Los Angeles to Brussels, and being a part-time sales coach at my mentor's company.
Today, I am now a business owner with multiple employees who close deals for other business owners while working underneath my company.
My point in sharing this story is that only a mere six months ago, I was only a university student with a lot of drive and aspirations, yet with no physical manifestation of the goals and dreams.
With persistence and hard work, anything is possible, and your dreams can turn into reality sooner than you ever thought possible.
Even as I started in Mike's Sales Program, I did not realize what I had stumbled upon and how this program would change my life.
I still have so much more to learn and so much more to improve about myself. I share this story as a small win and proof that anything you set your mind to can be achieved. Simply showing up every day and continuing to work hard will allow you to accomplish the things you dream of now.
My piece of advice from this journey:
Continue to show up.
Get a mentor to help guide you along the process. (see my other article about the importance of mentorship here)
Never, ever give up, no matter how hard it is or how difficult/grim the future looks.
This is only the beginning of my journey, and I've only achieved a fraction of what I am looking to do.
